Chant

From the series Piano resonance (2025)

This series of photographs conveys the feeling of staying inside a house in a village at the island of Tinos, in autumn period. A comfy house, providing an organic connection to its external surroundings, aligned with values, materials and building techniques used on traditional cycladic architecture, newly refurbished, fully equipped with state-of-the-art domestic appliances, enriched by contemporary site specific artworks.

This coexistence of cultural depth -via the use and handling of local organic materials for its construction- and of a technological aspect that provides up to date living experience, allows a discrete resonance to manifest, inviting the occupants to surf on a natural way on a wave of calmness, measure and authenticity.

The term piano resonance refers to the rich, complex sound produced when vibrating strings excite other strings and the piano's soundboard, creating sympathetic vibrations and overtones for a fuller tone, especially when the damper pedal is used, allowing a web of notes to ring together for warmth and depth, unlike a single, isolated note. The design of the red carpet -lying on the wooden floor next to the Kurzweil piano’s three gold pedals- forms a masqueraded secret passage to serenity, for those inhabitants who wish to traverse this universe of togetherness: a personal way to harmonically coexist with all elements of Tinos’ islands, to co ring with Virgin Mary’s countless churches’ bells.
